Disaster Services

We Respond

Anytime a disaster strikes, The American Red Cross responds at a moment’s notice to help the victims rebuild their lives. Immediately following a disaster, we make sure disaster victims have food, clothing and a place to stay.

We Assist

Once the emergency phase of a disaster has passed, trained American Red Cross volunteers meet with disaster victims and provide them with the means to get back on their feet. This is done by offering vouchers to purchase essentials like food, new clothing, occupational tools, medicine, eyeglasses and furniture.

 We Comfort

American Red Cross mental health workers are available to help people cope with the emotional aftermath of disasters. They provide a hand to hold, an ear for listening and a shoulder to rest on.

We Study

All American Red Cross disaster workers are trained to provide major disaster response functions of mass care, damage assessment and family services. This allows the entire organization to respond as efficiently as possible.
